1- Arizona CardinalsEDGE Terrell Suggs | Traded for Marcus Gilbert | LB Jordan Hicks | G JR Sweezy

Owning the first pick in the draft is stressful for the Arizona Cardinals. They’ve flirted with the idea of taking Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray over Ohio State edge rusher Nick Bosa. The signing of Terrell Suggs should not change their plans either way. If they view Bosa as the best prospect, grab him and let him join Suggs and Chandler Jones as a lethal trio of pass rushers.

If they still want Murray then Suggs presence gives them insurance on waiting for a pass rusher. Bringing Hicks into the mix gives them a presence at linebacker, a position they were very thin at already. Sweezy, like Hicks, helps the Cardinals out in a position they were very thin at. The Cardinals have plenty of holes still and these two moves did little to move the needle for them.

2- San Francisco 49ers Trade for DE Dee Ford | LB Kwon Alexander

The 49ers trade for pass rusher Dee Ford may not effect the draft. They will be staring Nick Bosa in the face if reports of Arizona taking Kyler Murray are true. Bosa joins Ford as new comers on a defensive line that already features three first rounders. The rest of the NFC West needs to be on notice. The contract given to Kwon Alexander will pay him along the likes of Luke Kuechly and Bobby Wagner.

Unfortunately he is coming off a torn ACL and has not been anywhere near that caliber of player. San Francisco has overpaid for free agents in recent years and this is more of the same. For the draft that move should have little impact. If Bosa is gone then the 49ers could move back and allow a team to come up and get a quarterback to add talent to an already solid roster. That would allow the 49ers to address the offensive line or wide receiver positions.

3- New York Jets – RB Le’Veon Bell ILB C.J. Mosley | WR Jamison Crowder/Josh Bellamy | DL Henry Anderson  | Trade for Kelechi Osemele

The most active team during the initial legal tampering period has been the New York Jets. Prepared with the second most cap space, they are throwing their weight around. Their bigges signing is Le’Veon Bell, who they were apparently the lone suitor for. Bell gives young Sam Darnold a safety blanket as a runner and receiver. He will add a big presence on this offense. Mosley adds to a young defense and should secure their starting spots on what is shaping up to be a very good front seven.

Osemele fills a massive hole at guard via trade and open holes for Bell. Crowder and Bellamy push back how important grabbing a receiver in the draft. What these moves do is make edge rusher and offensive tackle much more likely. Being spurned by Anthony Barr has to hurt a team that needed that type of player.

4- Oakland Raiders OT Trent Brown | S Lamarcus Joyner | Trade for Antonio Brown

Neck and neck with the Jets for most active teams has to be the Raiders. The acquisitions of Brown and Brown are huge for their offense and likely points the needle to the defensive side of the ball in the draft. Owning first round picks gives them plenty of flexibility. There are rumors that they will look to move on from Derek Carr at quarterback.

There is no direction that would shock people with the Raiders in this draft outside of offensive tackle with Brown and former first round pick Kolton Miller slotted to start. At the fourth pick they should be looking at pass rushers or a move back to keep building their roster up.

5- Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB/S Deone Buchanon

The Buccaneers have made a signing late into the legal tampering period. After the team lost staring linebacker Kwon Alexander and receivers Adam Humphreys and DeSean Jackson, it was surprising to see them not fill any holes. The Alexander loss is going to impact the draft even with Buchanon coming on board.

Tampa Bay is still seriously considering LSU linebacker Devin White to come in and replace Alexander on the second level of their defense. White would be a great piece for new coordinator Todd Bowles defense. Jackson and Humphreys will be missed but Chris Godwin is ready to step up opposite Mike Evans and the team will find value in the middle rounds at that position.

6- New York GiantsTraded for G Kevin Zeitler

New York has not signed anyone in the free agent market. That does not mean they haven’t stolen headlines. The Giants traded star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns. That came shortly after they made a move sending Olivier Vernon to Cleveland for guard Kevin Zeiter. These moves, and the loss of safety Landon Collins are going to impact the draft. Beckham is one of the best receives in the NFL and will be a big loss for the offense.

Losing Vernon places a glaring hole at edge rusher for the team. Taking Collins away, the team’s best defensive back, makes this defense one of the most vulnerable in football. With two first round picks the Giants could go in plenty of directions. They’ve been linked to Duke quarterback Daniel Jones but need to look at that defense as a glaring weakness.

7- Jacksonville Jaguars – QB Nick Foles

The writing was on the wall for this move the minutes the Philadelphia Eagles announced they were not using the franchise tag on Foles. Adding a talented quarterback to a roster in win-now mode, is a smart plan. The only issue is that Foles flamed out in two stops outside of Philadelphia. He will continue to need help on that offense which should come via the draft.

This drastically decreases the likelihood they draft a quarterback in the first round. They should be looking at offensive tackle, wide receiver and tight end early. Give Foles some pieces to help the offense or the Jaguars will be looking at another disappointing season and wasting an elite defense.

8- Detroit LionsDE Trey Flowers | CB Justin Coleman | TE Jesse James | WR Danny Amendola

The most active team in free agency. Trey Flowers is the biggest impact for the draft. This new management is looking to mimic the Patriots meaning edge pass rusher is not a huge priority in the draft. Flowers likely takes them out of the running for one with their pick.

Jesse James is the least impactful on the draft. In fact it may make tight end more likely with James little production as a receiver. Detroit also still has a glaring need at outside corner as Coleman is a primary nickle defender.
