The Los Angeles Chargers were able to compile a 12-4 record in 2018, tying the Kansas City Chiefs for the best record in the AFC. Unfortunately, the Chiefs held the tiebreaker over the Chargers, and the Bolts were forced to settle for a Wild Card spot, despite dominating for most of the regular season.

When it comes to this roster heading into 2019, there is a lot to like, and they should be right back in the conversation of being the best team in the conference once again. Quarterback Philip Rivers continues to play at a high level, and he has the weapons around him for another monster season in 2019.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Chargers hit an absolute home run in the first round last year, adding Derwin James from Florida State, who would go on to be the AFC’s Defensive Rookie of the Year. In 2019, they should look to get better up front on defense, and Dexter Lawrence from Clemson would be a great find at No. 28.

Lawrence had to sit out the College Football Playoff due to a failed drug test, but it should not affect his status as a first round talent. The Chargers have elite players coming off the edge in Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa, so adding another strong body to the middle of the defensive line makes sense this late in round one.
