Round 2 – No Pick

This was one of the picks the Ravens used to move up and take Lamar Jackson with the final pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Round 3 – Pick 85

Oshane Ximines, EDGE, Old Dominion

Replacing the 15.5 sacks that the Ravens lost with Za’Darius Smith and Terrell Suggs is not going to be easy. Matthew Judon, Tim Williams and Tyus Bowser are in place, and save for Judon that is banking on potential over production. Baltimore has always been able to find talented pass rushers later in the draft but their luck may be running out. With a lack of edge prospects to take in Round 1, it would not be surprising to see the Ravens package their extra third- and fourth- round selections to get into the second round and find a pass rusher. Without trades, that is hard to predict.

If Baltimore does stay put, a player like Old Dominion’s Oshane Ximines would be a smart target. He will get docked by many teams for being only an odd front outside linebacker. He can get to the quarterback, however. He comes from a small school but when the lights shined brightest he stepped up. When Old Dominion upset Virginia Tech this past year, Ximines showed he can play with the uptick in competition.

Ximines will need to work on more of a pass-rush plan but overall he’s a talented edge prospect. In fact, he was getting late Round 1 buzz earlier in the process. If he tested off the charts that would have stuck. Instead he tested as a solid, but mediocre athlete and should find a home on Day 2. He can join that previously-mentioned rotation of young pass rushers and grow into an every down role as he puts on some strength and muscle.
