1. Dwayne Haskins

While Murray might not seem like a quarterback Gettleman would gravitate towards, Haskins comes off as the sort of signal caller the old-school GM will love. He’s not great outside the pocket, but he’s got the size, arm strength and accuracy to make plays behind a quality offensive line.

Haskins is also a quarterback who could really benefit from sitting behind a veteran for a season. He simply didn’t play enough college football in a pro-style scheme to make an immediate jump to NFL starter. That isn’t an indictment on Haskins’ talent level, but it is an accurate reflection of what he’s ready to do right now.

A few weeks ago it seemed very likely Haskins would make it to the No. 6 pick, but he’s starting to build momentum. He threw the ball really well at his Pro Day and now he’s securing workouts from at least one team slated to make a selection ahead of the Giants. The Raiders might just be playing games, but their interest is still tempting other teams to move up to take Haskins.

Ultimately, the Giants need to come out of this draft with a long-term replacement for Manning under center. Haskins is a player who really fits what Shurmur wants to do with the offense. If he’s available at No. 6 look for the Giants to act quickly to bring him to the Big Apple.
