3. Green Bay Packers

With an aggressive approach the last two offseasons, Packers’ general manager Brian Gutekunst has gone against the grain of his predecessor Ted Thompson. Geronimo Allison, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown form a set of promising young players to go with Davante Adams, but Aaron Rodgers’ critique of those young guys last year will linger until proven otherwise.

Green Bay would need to do a good amount of financial maneuvering to comfortably make room for Green, with just over $13.1 million in cap space right now. But they have an extra first-round pick this year, from last year’s trade with the New Orleans Saints, and a total of 10 picks in April’s draft. So a trade offer for Green that gets Cincinnati’s attention could be formed, if it can be worked to make room for him on the back end. Jimmy Graham and his $12.66 million cap hit for this year could re-emerge on the radar to be cut, with a post-June 1 designation being the move to make.

Trading for Green would stand as Gutekunst’s most aggressive move yet, with plenty of moving parts to make it a reality. Rodgers would surely love throwing to Adams and Green though, and the secondaries in the NFC North would be put on serious notice.
