4. Cody Ford

This might be a little too high in the draft to select a guard, but Ford has all of the tools to develop into an above average starter early in his NFL career. The Packers could easily view him as a guy who could make Billy Turner surplus to requirements during the second half of his rookie season.

Some scouts see Ford as a potential option at tackle, but he just doesn’t have the foot speed or reach to keep really talented edge rushers at bay. He doesn’t miss being a tackle by much, but he grades out as a much better prospect inside.

What Ford lacks in quickness he more than makes up for in size. He measured 6-foot-4 at the combine and also weighed in at a healthy 329 pounds. NFL coaches can help him generate more push by improving his technique, but he’s blessed with above average size for the position.

There’s no question that Ford can help the Packers in 2019 but it’s very possible they will decide guard isn’t the right spot to spend the No. 12 overall pick. That doesn’t mean Green Bay might not try to move back up in the back half of the round to draft Ford a little later.
