2019 NFL mock draft: Kyler Murray heads to Cardinals at No. 1
By Brad Weiss
The Green Bay Packers will have their first of two first round picks at No. 12, thanks to the fact they had a really disappointing season in 2018. The team did get Aaron Rodgers back healthy, but they just had way too many issues on both sides of the ball, and the relationship between Rodgers and head coach Mike McCarthy quickly deteriorated.
This season, Green Bay has a new head coach in Matt LaFleur, as McCarthy was fired towards the end of the 2018 campaign. It will be interesting to see how LaFleur handles being a head coach in the NFL for the first time this upcoming season, but he certainly has cut his chops as an assistant in the league,
With their first round pick, the Packers should look to add a weapon for Rodgers, and D.K. Metcalf is considered by many as being the best wideout in this draft class. Metcalf did not put up huge numbers at Ole Miss, but he showed incredible ability at the combine, and his draft stock rocketed up afterwards.
Green Bay should be one of the better teams in the NFC North this season, as Rodgers is still an elite quarterback in this league. If he and LaFleur can develop a solid relationship, it will go a long way, and after adding so much talent on defense during the free agency period, the Packers are certainly a team to watch in 2019.
