4. Ronda Rousey’s possible departure

If the rumors are to be believed, WrestleMania 35 could mark the last time we see “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey in a WWE ring for a while. Even if Rousey doesn’t call it quits permanently, it seems more than likely that the Rowdy one will work a more limited schedule closing out the rest of 2019.

Since her first official match at last year’s WrestleMania, Rousey has been going hard for the better part of a year. Some extra downtime would keep Rousey fresh, not over-saturated in the public eye and open the door for other talents to be in the top spot: enter Becky Lynch.

Filling Rousey’s role demands someone who can generate the same type of mainstream buzz that the former UFC bantamweight champ does. No other female superstar in WWE has the momentum that Lynch has right now and mainstream media is already catching on. Lynch’s stellar work promoting her personal brand through social media and interviews has already caught the attention of entities outside the WWE such as Wendy’s, Looney Tunes, ESPN and even the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor. She’s also landed endorsement deals with Head & Shoulders and Body Armor. Basically, Lynch is everywhere.

People who don’t even watch the WWE product are hearing about “The Man” and it’s making them want to tune in to WWE and see what she’s all about. Lynch has everything it takes to be the face that runs the place after WrestleMania. It could even be said that her name already carries more weight in professional wrestling than Rousey’s. Winning the belts is just a formality at this point.
