WWE 205 Live recap for April 16, 2019: Cedric Alexander vs Oney Lorcan

Oney Lorcan discusses the main event

Oney Lorcan is shown backstage discussing his main event match with Cedric Alexander. The move to Raw is referenced, and Lorcan states Alexander was the most important person to build 205 Live. Lorcan, however, wants to prove he can lead the brand with a victory over the measuring stick of the cruiserweight division. If Oney can’t get a win over Alexander, he doesn’t feel he can take his spot as the star of the brand.

This was a different side of Lorcan from last week. Instead of just ripping apart Alexander, he showed respect for one of the most important wrestlers to the history of 205 Live. It will be interesting to see if Lorcan plays a tweener or a heel character moving forward on the brand following this promo.

Cedric Alexander speaks on changes coming his way

Cedric Alexander is now filmed in the locker room discussing his move to Monday Night Raw. The desire to compete with new opponents and continue moving up the WWE ladder is exciting, but he’s not taking tonight’s contest with Oney Lorcan lightly.

Alexander states his legacy on 205 Live is something he will always hold with great pride regardless of what happens next in his career. He believes that Lorcan can one day become the top star on 205 Live, but Alexander won’t just give him the spot. Alexander wants to end his 205 Live run on a high note after helping build the division brick by brick.

He, along with Ali, who moved up to SmackDown in February, and Buddy Murphy, who was also called up on Tuesday, have been the brand’s backbones for years. It’s understandable he wants to protect its and his legacies and take on Lorcan as a serious opponent.
