2019 NFL mock draft: Kyler Murray finally goes to Cardinals
By Brad Weiss
The Miami Dolphins are definitely going to be an interesting team to watch this year, as they will have Ryan Fitzpatrick as their starting quarterback. While known to put a big games in spurts, Fitzpatrick has never been able to be successful for a full 16-game season, so don’t expect anything huge out of the Dolphins in 2019.
During this off-season, the Dolphins saw star edge rusher Cameron Wake go to the Tennessee Titans on a multi-year contract, leaving them with a void at the edge rusher position. The Dolphins have a first-year head coach in Brian Flores, so losing a leader on defense is going to hurt.
One of the best edge rusher is in this draft class is Montez Sweat from Mississippi State, though he has seen his stock drop in recent weeks due to a heart issue. While many are predicting he falls out of the first round, I do not believe that to be so, and Miami would be a perfect landing spot for him.
This is a Dolphins team that is not going to win too many games next season, and the word is that they will target a quarterback early in round one in 2020. There are a bunch of solid young arms out there for them to choose from in next year’s draft, and while they may surprise some people from week to week in 2019, this should be viewed as a rebuilding year in South Beach for sure.
