Cody Ford

Unlike the other player’s on the list, the fall of Cody Ford in mock drafts does not appear to have a clear scapegoat. Early in the draft process, Ford seemed to be locked into the top 10 in mock drafts. However, several tackles seem to be jumping him in mock drafts. Ford helped anchor a line at right tackle that went on to win the Joe Moore Award this past season, an award given to the top offensive line unit in the nation.

Ford also won First Team All-Big 12 honors and played his way into being named Third-Team All-America as well. Despite all of the prestige and awards surrounding his name, Ford has slipped in mock drafts. Players like Jawaan Taylor, Jonah Williams, and Andre Dillard are continuously mocked to be drafted before Ford. It could be because all of these players tested better at the NFL Combine, or that teams simply have grown to love these other tackles as they watch more film.

It has been strange watching Ford fall down the board as he seems to be a quick and physical tackle who will become an instant starter that can shift the trajectory of weaker offensive line units. Ford will likely still hear his name called in the first round of the draft, but it’s doubtful he will be one of the first names called in the class.
