NFL Draft grades for all 32 teams: Redskins, Panthers get high marks
Denver Broncos-B+
Anytime expecting Joe Flacco to produce at quarterback needs a good tight end. Noah Fant isn’t much of a blocker, but he’ll make plays for the Broncos as a rookie. He was a good first round selection for Denver.
Dalton Risner and Drew Lock both have a chance to develop into good starters as well. Anytime you get three potential impact players in one class you’ve done a pretty nice job.
Kansas City Chiefs: C+
The Chiefs’ plans were clearly changed when Tyreek Hill’s future with the team was thrown into jeopardy. Mecole Hardman has a lot of the same measurables, but he wasn’t nearly productive enough at Georgia to justify going in Round 2.
On the flip side, swooping in for Juan Thornhill later in the round looks like excellent value. Third rounder Khalen Saunders also looks like an early contributor. The Chiefs could have done more, but it wasn’t a total mess.
Los Angeles Chargers: C-
Jerry Tillery may play a lot for the Chargers next season, but he wasn’t a valuable pick at the end of Round 1. Nasir Adderley was really good value on Day Two, but it’s hard to say safety was the Chargers’ biggest area of need.
The lack of depth produced in Day Three also hurts. Drue Tranquill is an intriguing talent at linebacker, but the rest of this class screams backup at best. Los Angeles needed to do better.
Oakland Raiders: D+
Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock came into the draft with a ton of ammunition, but they didn’t make the most of it. Drafting Clelin Ferrell at No. 4 was a huge reach. Taking Josh Jacobs at the end of Round 1 wasn’t any better. Jonathan Abram was the only solid first rounder in their trio of selections.
Guys like Maxx Crosby and Hunter Renfrow will need to make big contributions to help bring up this grade in the future. Mark this down as a big missed opportunity for a franchise that really needed to nail this draft.
