Jacksonville Jaguars

Grade: A

Best pick: Josh Allen (EDGE, Kentucky)

Questionable pick: Quincy Williams (S, Murray State)

Sleeper pick: Ryquell Armstead (RB, Temple)

Oakland’s surprise selection of Clelin Ferrell and the Giants going with Daniel Jones presented Jacksonville with the opportunity to pounce on perhaps the draft’s best pass rushing prospect in Kentucky’s Josh Allen. I’m not sure many in the Jags’ draft room expected Allen to be available, so adding him to a rotation with an aging Calais Campbell and as Yannick Ngakoue enters a contract year is fantastic value. Not only that, but that Jaguars were able to get a player many believed was in play with that seventh overall pick in Florida tackle Jawaan Taylor in the second round. Taylor is an excellent fit for the Jacksonville scheme if he’s able to stay healthy after some reported knee issues dropped him out of the first round.

One of my favorite under-the-radar running backs in the class was Temple’s Ryquell Armstead, and the Jags were able to get tremendous value by snatching him up in the fifth round. Armstead is a tough, physical runner who should get his share of carries depending on how the ongoing Leonard Fournette sage plays out.
