2020 NFL mock draft: Tua Tagovailoa goes to Dolphins
By Brad Weiss
The Los Angeles Chargers were one of the better teams in all of football last season, winning an AFC-best 12 games, and making it to the Divisional Round. Unfortunately for the Chargers, they lost the tiebreaker with divisional foe Kansas City for the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC Playoffs, had to settle for a Wild Card, and went on the road in the Wild Card round.
They took care of business against the Baltimore Ravens in that game, but were roasted by Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the Divisional Round. Still, this is a team that is going to be one to beat in the AFC once again in 2019, and Philip Rivers does not appear to be slowing down any time soon.
While Rivers continues to defy Father Time, the Chargers do have to invest some early draft capital at the offensive tackle position. One player who should hear his name called in the first round in that position group is Trey Smith from Tennessee, who could step in and start on the right side for the Chargers right now.
Los Angeles has the talent on both sides of the ball to be one of the last teams standing next season, but they have to make it a priority to keep Rivers upright as much as possible. The AFC West is going to be quite interesting, as all teams got better this offseason, but the Chargers may have the most talent of the bunch.
