 Justin Herbert – Miami Dolphins

In this year’s draft, the Miami Dolphins had the perfect opportunity to nab their possible future franchise quarterback in Dwayne Haskins. Instead, the Dolphins passed on Haskins and added to their core by taking Christian Wilkins out of Clemson. While many Dolphins’ fans lamented this decision, the Dolphins instead took a waiver on Josh Rosen from the Arizona Cardinals after the Cardinals drafted Kyler Murray with the first pick.

It goes to show how much the Dolphins were unimpressed with this year’s draft class. While many may think that the acquisition of Rosen will prevent them from drafting a quarterback next year, if Rosen struggles like he did last year, the Dolphins will absolutely be in the mix for one of the top quarterbacks in the draft. Because I think that the Dolphins will be a lot better than most people are predicting, it is possible that they could find themselves not within striking distance of the first pick in the draft.

However, even though all the attention may be on Tua for the draft, Justin Herbert out of Oregon could be the perfect match for the Dolphins. Had Herbert entered into this year’s draft, he might have been unquestionably the best quarterback prospect in the draft, but he decided that he wanted to play one more year at Oregon. It was even rumored that the Dolphins were very interested in Herbert had he declared for the draft this year, but now that he has decided to go back, it gives Miami even more options as they prepare to gear up for the 2020 draft.

Herbert stands at 6-foot-6 and has all the right fundamentals to succeed in the NFL. If the Dolphins do choose to select Herbert, they could create another competition between him and Rosen for the starting job in 2020. There is no doubt that the entire Dolphins organization is hoping that Rosen can turn into their franchise quarterback, but if he does not prove himself enough in 2019, Herbert may be bound for Miami in 2020.
