4. Liverpool beat Newcastle comfortably to keep title hopes alive

Liverpool will not want to be remembered as the side that produced one of the best title challenges in recent history but came up short. They will want to be the side that kept fighting until the end and got what they deserved.

The fact the Reds have only lost one Premier League game all season yet they may still not win the title is remarkable. They could finish on 97 Premier League points but still be pipped to the post. That level of quality is unprecedented but if they don’t lift the Premier League trophy this month then there will be a feeling that they’ve once again missed a massive opportunity.

In 2014 the Reds were on course to win the title and it got away from them but this season they’ve surpassed anything achieved in 2013-14 and they might just go one better. In order to do that they’ll need to beat Newcastle in the later kick-off on Saturday.

Former Liverpool manager, Rafa Benitez, is now in charge at Newcastle and some Liverpool fans think that their old friend may do them a favor this weekend. That is unlikely but given Newcastle’s current position – safe with not much more to achieve — the Magpies may be a bit more relaxed in this matchup.

Liverpool, on the other hand, will be desperate to get this match won early and put the pressure straight back onto Manchester City. Newcastle have proven themselves a difficult side to break down of late but they should struggle with the pace of Liverpool’s attack.

Roberto Firmino has not started the past two games for the Reds but he came on against Barcelona in midweek and almost found the back of the net. It would be a surprise if the Brazilian doesn’t return to the starting line-up this weekend.

This match won’t be easy for Jurgen Klopp’s side but their desire to win the title coupled with the better quality of players will comfortably take them past Newcastle. Salah, Mane and Firmino will all find the net in a 3-0 win for Liverpool.
