4. Dallas Cowboys

After missing the playoffs for his entire career, Gerald McCoy clearly wants to play for a winner. Contenders with needs on the defensive line would be very good fits for McCoy, and the Dallas Cowboys certainly fit the bill.

Dallas made the playoffs a year ago on the strength of an excellent defense and running game, but the defensive line could certainly use some depth. With David Irving walking away from the game in the offseason, the Cowboys had a new hole in the front-four to fill.

The Cowboys started to address that hole by drafting Trysten Hill in the second round in April and signing former Texan Christian Covington. Those two are expected to compete with Antwaun Woods for the starting spot opposite Maliek Collins, but McCoy would represent a significant upgrade over all three players.

For a team that is in win-now mode, the Cowboys should take the plunge on McCoy, who could give them a huge boost in the pass rush department. The NFC East doesn’t feature a ton of mobile quarterbacks, so having a guy like McCoy crashing the pocket could make life much easier on the rest of the Dallas defense.

McCoy could also appeal to the Cowboys’ desire to acquire big names, and he would be the biggest name they brought to Dallas since Jason Witten came out of retirement earlier in the offseason.
