2. Jacksonville Jaguars

After reaching the AFC Championship Game, and taking a lead into the fourth quarter of that game for that matter, the Jaguars fell all the way to 5-11 and last place in the AFC South last year.

Head coach Doug Marrone is firmly on the hot seat now, and another particularly bad season would surely lead to his firing. If things go especially bad, an in-season firing can’t be ruled out.

Assuming team president Tom Coughlin keeps his own job when/if Marrone is dismissed (along with general manager David Caldwell?), he would presumably lead a search for a new head coach that fits a mold he wants.

Lewis is 60 years old and would surely be the kind of steady hand an old-school football guy like Coughlin can appreciate.

If there’s a realistic list of possible NFL head coaching jobs for Lewis in 2020, Jacksonville has to be toward the top of it right now. Whether he’d be the right man for the job, or would even want the job if there are good defensive coordinator openings out there, is a different conversation.
