Chris Shaw

Chris Shaw is already 25 years old, but he’s still considered one of the Giants’ best prospects, and he’s already had a cup of coffee in the Major Leagues last season. Many expected him to get a chance to crack the roster, but he ended up getting sent down to AA.

He’s been playing well to start the season, hitting .288 with seven home runs and 24 RBI. Shaw has a power bat once he gets some wood on the ball. He has the pop that’s sorely missed in this Giants lineup.

It does not help that the Giants play half the season in cavernous AT&T Park, but Shaw has the type of power that can overcome these issues. He’s still on the 40-man roster despite being sent to AA. That makes it easier to get him up to the main roster.

Last year did not go well once he was called up. He hit a paltry .185 over 22 games played. The power we were hoping to see never really came to fruition. However, he likely learned from the experience. The Giants are desperate for power, and this kid could definitely bring it for them.

He’ll need some help to stay consistent, but he’s the kind of player that could surprise a lot of people. It may be one of those fleeting streaks where he hits 10 home runs in six weeks, but that would sorely help a team that’s currently floundering.
