5. Clint Frazier

This is probably not the best time to bring up Clint Frazier. He has about the worst possible game in the field on national television this past Sunday. He misplayed three different balls in the outfield against the New York Yankees biggest rival the Boston Red Sox, which basically lost them the game.

Frazier is not a good fielder, that much is obvious, but he has a ridiculous amount of upside and could be on the outs in New York. This one game aside, Frazier will soon have very little room in a crowded Yankees outfield. Frazier currently shares time with recently acquired Cameron Maybin. However, at some point this season the Yankees will get Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton back. With Aaron Hicks and Brett Gardner locks to stay on the team, Frazier may have nowhere to go.

The Yankees will probably ask for something decent in return for Frazier, but he’s 24 years old and hitting very well. This is the type of player the Rays usually make moves for. They see a player who could be very, very good, but for one reason or another needs a change of scenery. That’s what they did with Tommy Pham and Yandy Diaz, and both those moves have worked amazingly.

Frazier could be a similar move. It may be hard to convince the Yankees to trade with their closest division rival. However, at this point they are going to make a move for the team that gives them the best return for Frazier. It’s unfortunate, because despite his issues in the field he already is a major league hitter, but with a lack of room, the Rays should look to take advantage.
