Golden State Warriors injury woes for Durant, Klay and Looney continue

Warriors still without Durant, Looney done, Klay questionable.

Warriors injury woes continue to pile up as forward Kevin Durant will miss his eighth consecutive game, Klay Thompson is iffy for Game 3.

Golden State confirmed that forward Kevin Durant will be out yet again for Game 3 of the NBA Finals, but the Warriors are holding out hope that guard Klay Thompson will be able to play.

That was the news from coach Steve Kerr on Tuesday in advance of the game on Wednesday night in Oakland. In addition, Kerr confirmed center Kevon Looney will miss the remained of the series with a broken collar bone suffered in Game 2. The lone good news for the Warriors is that forward Andre Iguodala, who has been dealing with back and calf issues, would be able to play.

Durant has been out since Game 5 of the Warriors playoff series against Houston. Although the Warriors won Game 6 and then swept Portland without Durant, the team’s hopes took a hit during a Game 1 loss to Toronto in the Finals.

The Warriors tied the series on Sunday and Durant said after the game he expected to play in Game 3. However, the team said Game 4 was more likely and Kerr confirmed that. As for Thompson, he injured his hamstring after landing awkwardly after a jump shot against Toronto on Sunday. He left the game and did not return.

Like Durant, Thompson said he expected to play in Game 3, but he was limping badly after the game and was icing his leg.
