3. Morris Claiborne

Morris Claiborne likely won’t ever live up to the expectations thrust upon him when he was selected with the sixth-overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Recording four interceptions in five seasons with the Cowboys, the former LSU Tiger struggled to stay on the field and when on it, he wasn’t as productive as the team would’ve hoped.

Perhaps a change of scenery was just what he needed. Playing 15 games in back-to-back seasons with the New York Jets, health hasn’t been a concern. Picking off three passes in two years and posting a career-high 14 passes defended last season, Claiborne seemingly turned his career around in New York.

He’s far from elite and his age (29) may be what’s holding teams back from signing him to a long-term deal, but Claiborne would help a lot of defenses from day one. Possessing decent size for a corner (5-foot-11, 192 pounds), there shouldn’t be too many reasons he’s still on the open market.

Much like the rest of the players mentioned here, the best thing Claiborne can do is continue to be patient until training camp rolls around. This year’s crop of free agent corners wasn’t exactly strong, so he should get a phone call from a team within the next month or two.
