Lucy Bronze has lived up to her reputation as the world’s best rightback, and she scored a wonderful goal in the World Cup quarterfinals to back that up even further.

England put on a masterclass against Norway in the World Cup quarterfinals in the first half, as they jumped out to an early lead in the third minute, and seemed intent on extending that lead after halftime.

Star right back Lucy Bronze has been critical to England’s work on defense and their dominance on the right flank, combining well with right winger Nikita Parris to create several dangerous chances for England, including Ellen White’s record-setting goal in the first half to put the game at 2-0.

In the 57th minute, Bronze grabbed a goal for herself, hitting an absolute thunderbolt from outside the box to score on yet another perfectly-executed set piece from England.

Bronze is one of the most technically gifted players in the world, and she took this chance like an attacking midfielder. This was a finish of the highest quality, as Bronze stepped up to the ball and used the ball’s movement to generate a powerful finish. Bronze did the difficult job of keeping the shot down, and the ball flew into the net at full speed. Norway’s keeper had no chance whatsoever, and this was as satisfying a finish as any in this year’s World Cup.

Although Bronze isn’t known for being a goal-scorer, she has so much quality with her shots from long-range. This first-time effort was deadly, and future opponents would do well to make sure she’s marked in these situations, especially on set pieces. England set this up brilliantly, and Bronze finished with aplomb.
