NXT UK Recap for June 26, 2019: Kiwi Crushed

Mark Andrews and Joey Long Pants — just Joseph Conners but now in long bois — open the episode with a match that doesn’t do much for either guy. Andrews beats a guy he should probably beat and Conners continues to confound.

They keep trying to push Conners as having this great untapped potential or being super intense or seeming at all interesting. Yet, he keeps losing, has infinitesimal intensity and the only interesting thing he does is slide under the bottom rope during his ring entrance.

And yet, he’s so not compelling that we end up talking about him a bunch every time he’s on an NXT UK episode. So, looks like the push is working?

Whatever the case, Conners hits some big moves but gets frustrated when Andrews is able to kick out. His usual downfall. Only, it gets worse for Conners when the crowd starts chanting, “you suck” at him. His worst fears all coming true, as Andrews reverses a suplex into a stunner, and then hits a shooting star press for the win.

The good news from this match is that we learn that Aiden English can relate to Andrews’ entrance music — performed by Andrews’ own band — as English himself has been in a band before. Thank god that’s settled.
