Atlanta Falcons – UNDER 8.5

The Atlanta Falcons are the most talented garbage team in the NFL. Every year, they get a boost, from fans and experts alike, for having some of the better positional players in the league. Everybody swoons over Matt Ryan, who might be the most overrated QB the league has seen this decade, and Julio Jones, who Ryan can never seem to find in the endzone.

The Falcons could go 10-6 this season. They could also easily go 6-10. I’m going to err on the side of caution and say it’ll be the latter. Atlanta has the seventh toughest strength of schedule this season and if last season is any indication, this group has a difficult time beating good teams.

In 2018, the Falcons six wins came over the Panthers (week 2), Bucs, Giants, Redskins, Cardinals, Panthers (week 16) and Bucs again. The Panthers were horrible in the back half of the season so the week 2 win is the only decent one of the bunch. They lost to every playoff team they played, as well as the Browns, Bengals, Steelers and Packers. This year’s team has a tougher schedule and for the most part, the same key pieces.

If you think this Falcons hate comes from watching them blow a 25 point lead in the Super Bowl two years ago, you’d be wrong. They were bad long before that game that they somehow snuck into. This team is as overrated as overrated gets. Don’t expect anything new from the same old Falcons.
