Daily Fantasy Golf: FanDuel PGA – Mid Tier Picks ($10,000-$11,000)

Patrick Reed – $10,700 – (GPP)

Please proceed with caution. Not only do I prefer to not play Reed pretty much ever, when I do, he burns me. However, with this weaker field this week and with how well Reed has been playing, it is just too tough for me to ignore him this week. After almost three months of basically consistent mediocre golf, Reed finally cracked the top-ten for the first time in 2019.

Reed has always kind have been a streaky golfer, and he seems to do well at the easier courses. He fired rounds of 68 on Thursday and Friday last week at Detroit Golf Club for the Rocket Mortgage Classic, and was even more dialed-in on Saturday shooting a 65. A 70 on Sunday led to a T-5 finish, but at that point, there was no catching Nate Lashley, and not many golfers were going low.

There is zero percent chance I would put Reed in my cash lineup here, as I think you have plenty of safe plays to choose from. However, I do think Reed could very well win this week. Reed will likely be fairly chalky, and the pivot will probably be Tony Finau, but I am not ready to put any faith in Finau at this point.

Joaquin Niemann – $10,200 – (Cash)

My favorite write-up for the last year plus is playing his best golf in his brief PGA Tour career right at this moment. Niemann is such a pure ball-striker, it was only a matter of time before this 21-year-old from Chile got hot with his putter, and started to make a name for himself. Niemann notched his second straight T-5 finish last week at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, and he has not missed a cut since the PGA Championship, making it to the weekend in five straight.

In my opinion here, this price is just way too low this week. Pricing is just incredibly soft, and it would have been much more fun this week if all of these guys from $10K up got a boost by about $500, but it is what it is. Niemann will be chalk this week in all formats, but he is so dialed-in and in control on and around the greens over the last couple weeks, there is no chance I am fading him.
