MLB DFS Pitching Gems Of The Day July 4: Fireworks For Griffin Canning
MLB DFS Pitching – Main Slate Plays:
Griffin Canning – Griffin had has start yesterday pushed back one day just for an extra day of rest, so we get him in this spot today. Canning has one of the best fastballs in all of baseball. It has a velocity of 94 MPH, and moves over nine inches vertically, which is something that not many pitchers can do with that pitch. That is his best, and most frequently used pitch, followed by the curve, change-up, and slider. One thing to note is, against LHH, the change-up is getting a lot of whiffs recently at 40%. The Rangers do not hit the change-up well. This lineup has plenty of strikeout upside for the young prospect.
Mike Soroka – Soroka has seen a significant price decrease, compared to when he was over 10,000 on FanDuel a few weeks ago. A couple of mediocre performances have been the cause of that, so now is the time to buy low on him.
Today, he will face six RHH, where his numbers are pretty good. He has a .065 ISO, 21.1% K rate, 60% GB, and 35% HC. Those are elite contact numbers, and are the result of a very good sinker, which is his most used pitch. It gets 70% GB on its own which is ridiculous. The slider is his next pitch and it gets 46% whiffs. Low ISO number across the board, and the Phillies have a very high GB rate against sinkers. Soroka may go overlooked in this spot, and makes for a great play in all formats.
MLB DFS Pitching Wrap Up:
Alright everyone to sum up everything that was encompassed in this article, my favorite pitchers today are, Canning, Woodruff, Milone, and Soroka. Griffin Canning is one of the most promising young arms in all of Baseball, do not be shocked if he puts up a massive game today. People will fade him because the game is in Texas, and they have big power, but people always forget they have one of the highest strikeout rates in the league. Woodruff also has some big upside, and depending on the lineup that the Reds send out, he could have a great game.
