DraftKings MLB Picks July 5: Masahiro of the Day
By Mike Marteny
DraftKings MLB Stack Options:
Boston Red Sox vs. Jordan Zimmerman or Ryan Carpenter or Gregory Soto:
So, the Tigers have no earthly idea who they’re throwing out there. Last night it was Zimmerman. Sometime overnight it went to Carpenter. Now Soto has been thrown in the mix. Mookie and Michael Chavis are pretty much locks for me no matter who takes the ball. I’ll go ahead and throw J.D. in there against his former team as well. That leaves us two more slots.Rafael Devers is thumping everything, so I want him too. I’d like Xander in the last spot, but I haven’t decided if I’m completely punting arms yet. If I don’t, I may have to step down to Bradley or Eduardo Nunez instead.
Houston Astros vs. Felix Pena:
Noe Ramirez will likely baffle them for about two innings, but then the get the tomato can effect of Pena. Pena’s ERA is nearly 5 on the season. The Astros are hitting well right now (Coors will do that to you) and Altuve is getting hot at the right time. Definitely use him. Springer, Yuli Gurriel, Michael Brantley, Yordan Alvarez (welcome back to the A.L.!), and Chirinos are all worth a look here depending on how much you have to spend.
Colorado Rockies vs. Zack Greinke:
I know this isn’t in Coors, but the Rockies banged out five runs and 11 hits against Greinke against him in Chase Field in his last start against them there. Overall, the .243 average isn’t much, but the 14 homers and 41 runs sure is. Trevor Story has five of those homers and 12 RBI! Mark Reynolds has clubbed four of those homers, and is a great punt if he starts. Blackmon has two homers. David Dahl, Daniel Murphy, and Ian Desmond have the others. Yes, you read that right. Nolan Arenado has not homered against Greinke in 70 at bats, but he does have seven RBI.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Eric Lauer:
As most of you know, I usually make it a point not to stack Dodgers, but I’m making an exception tonight. Why? Lauer’s numbers aren’t that bad, right? Well, his road numbers are. Lauer has a 6.49 ERA in seven road starts, and you can stack cheap right handed Dodgers and buy whatever top shelf liquor you want with the leftovers. Chris Taylor, Kike Hernandez, and Justin Turner are all just $3,900 each. Russell Martin is under $3,000. Interested yet?
Oakland Athletics vs. Yusei Kikuchi:
The A’s have more exposure to Kikuchi than anyone else, and let’s just say they haven’t been the greatest welcoming committee for the Japanese import. Oakland has four homers and nine runs in only 54 at bats. Khris Davis, Canha, Matt Chapman, and Matt Olson have the homers. Laureano and Chad Pinder have each driven in a pair. There’s a lot to like about the A’s here, especially since most of them are cheap.
