Daily Fantasy Baseball: Top Value Plays – FantasyDraft
Early Slate – (8 Games)
Anytime Mad Max is on the slate, you better start thinking about some value bats. I have been playing a lot more on Fantasy Draft over the last few days, and one thing Picks and Pivots writer here at FanSided Fantasy Brian Tulloch has me convinced of, is that finding the free square is vital to stacking up some huge bats, along with whoever you might think might be the best pitcher on the slate.
The “Free Square” I am speaking of if this is your first time, is basically a punt player at minimum price or darn close. That man for the few days has been Rays recent call up Mike Brosseau, and I also like to sprinkle in some John Hicks against lefties. Brosseau did finally get a price bump today, but he will be featured here a bit later. I do not quite have the punts lined up here for the early slate, but here is one to sprinkle in along with the DraftKings ones, and the overall top plays. Trust me, It will all make sense at the end.
IF – Mike Zunino – Tampa Bay Rays – $4,800
If you are astute, you will probably ask yourself if I am really starting off a value plays article with a catcher on a site where you do not even to roster a catcher. However, as you read on, and if you play on DraftKings as well as Fantasy Draft, you will notice the value plays are mostly interchangeable. Trust me I have more Rays coming up later in the article, but if Zunino gets another start here this afternoon against the lefty veteran C.C. Sabathia, he could be my John Hicks today.
Main Slate – (7 Games)
IF – Jose Rondon – Chicago White Sox – $3,900
Free square season will continue on the main slate, as I spot a clear minimum priced spot to attack tonight. The White Sox will host the Cubs in what could be perceived as a pitchers match-up between Jon Lester and Lucas Giolito, but Vegas odds are implying ten runs for this game at this point.
We love attacking Lester around these parts, and what better way than with a $3,900 punt who hit his third home run of the season in his last start against Tigers lefty Matthew Boyd. This White Sox lineup from six through nine is among the worst in the league statistically, and with Rondon coming off of a 2-for-4 game in his last start, he is likely to get another start here, and hit sixth or seventh in the lineup.
For an example of what this play can do for your lineup, start with Rondon, and put in Gerrit Cole and Kenta Maeda. Right there you have a solid $8,500 remaining per player, and with the roster flexibility on Fantasy Draft, you can almost pick and choose your six-man stack, or however you may roll from there.
