DraftKings PGA: 2019 John Deere Classic Picks
Charles Howell III 9,500
Chucky 3 sticks is one of the more consistent players on the PGA Tour, hence the 40+ million dollars of career Tour earnings. I will back the veteran this week. He does everything that you want of a top salary golfer. He consistently makes cuts, he finds the top-10 with frequency, and he is an above average DK scorer versus his finish. In the stats that I am looking at, CH3 pops in T2G, DK Points, and wedge proximity. You would have to go back to 2012 for the last time CH3 missed a cut at The John Deere Classic. With the field as weak as it is, I trust CH3 to deliver a solid finish.
Ryan Moore 9,200
Moore is a far better golfer than most the bums in this field. No, he is not the sexy pick that the rookies possess, but he is a proven PGA veteran who has had plenty of success in his career and on this course. Moore won the 2016 version of this tournament. Moore ranks 14th in my model, with top-10 rankings in Approach, T2G, DK points, and wedge proximity. Moore is the 6th ranked golfer at TPC Deere Run Gained. The only stat holding Moore back at the moment is putting.
Kevin Tway 9,200
Tway is one of my favorite plays. This course sets up well for the bomber that strike wedges pure. He has been playing solid golf recently, and you have to respect his high finish potential (Tway won earlier this year at a weak field event – Safeway). After a missed cut at the Rocket Mortgage I expect him to rebound with a nice showing after taking a couple of weeks to recharge. Tway ranks 10th in my model and has solid course history at TPC Deere Run, although nothing spectacular.
