1. Mitchell Trubisky will start to lose his job

Jared Goff is the most scrutinized starting quarterback of an NFL playoff team, but Mitchell Trubisky completely deserves to be in contention for the top spot. Every time the Bears offense sputters this season, the former North Carolina signal caller is going to earn a ton of criticism.

Statistically speaking, there were certainly some things to like about Trubisky’s 2018 season. He completed just over two-thirds of his passes on his way to a 3,223-yard season. There are certainly times when he throws the ball like an elite NFL quarterback.

The ugly side of Trubisky’s game is more unsettling than anything he does positively. His 12 interceptions last year were a big problem for the Bears offense. The unfortunate nature of those errant throws is that they generally weren’t the product of misreads. Instead, they came due to Trubisky’s inaccuracy as a passer.

That isn’t going to go away anytime in his career. Trubisky isn’t going to suddenly be benched this year in favor of Chase Daniel, but the writing will start to show up on the wall that he’s not the guy who’s going to lead the Bears to a Super Bowl title.

Expect Trubisky to finish this season with more questions about his role in Chicago than ever before. Nagy can make a quarterback look good, but Trubisky’s flaws are too obvious to miss. 2019 will be the beginning of the end of his tenure as the Bears starter.
