MLB DFS Pitching Primer: First Look

Here are the pitching match-ups for this evening’s games. The home pitcher is listed second and the Vegas odds are listed in parenthesis when available. Remember that some pitchers have extremely large home/road splits.

Vegas lines and implied run totals can be tricky to navigate at times and they do change throughout the day, but they are certainly a great place to start your MLB DFS research. For cash games, I am often looking for large home favorites, while anything goes for GPPs.

Walker Buehler (-170) vs. Vince Velasquez

Jalen Beeks (projected reliever) vs. CC Sabathia

Austin Voth (-170) vs. Asher Wojciechowski

Ryan Carpenter vs. Zach Plesac (-255)

Logan Allen (-115) vs. Jordan Yamamoto

Jacob Waguespack vs. Andrew Cashner (-190)

Alex Young vs. Lance Lynn  (-160)

Anthony DeSclafani  vs. Alec Mills (-125)

Bryse Wilson vs. Brandon Woodruff (-150)

Steven Matz vs. Michael Pineda (-135)

Dylan Cease (-115) vs. Glenn Sparkman

Dario Agrazal vs. Jack Flaherty (-165)

Drew Pomeranz vs. Peter Lambert (-130)

Collin McHugh (opener) vs. Andrew Heaney

Marco Gonzales vs. Daniel Mengden (-165)

We have two teams using openers today, a trend that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere despite how annoying it is to DFS players. We also have a bunch of young pitchers on the mound. Yamamoto and Allen face off against each other and while they have both been solid, they feel pretty overpriced on both sites.

Young has been great so far for Arizona, but he probably has some major regression coming tonight. The Cubs rookie Mills is cheap, but I don’t have a ton of faith in him tonight at home against the Reds.

I do have a fun theme going today with my first three pitchers, you’ll see. Time to check out the arm I trust the most. Who is my cash game ace tonight?
