FanDuel MLB – Top Pitchers

Top Play: Jacob deGrom | NYM | $10,600

There are so many routes you can go to pitcher tonight and they’re all separated by less than $1,000, so we could see a ton of diversity here, but deGrom takes the cake for me as the top option. On the season, deGrom holds a 30.6% strikeout rate backed by an elite 2.80 xFIP and has kept the ball on the ground to the tune of a 44% ground-ball rate.

While this Giants lineup isn’t too prone to the strikeout (19.6%), their 0.338 team wOBA against righties is mediocre at best. What’s even more encouraging is the fact that their team wOBA against righties falls to 0.293 if you factor out the action-packed Coors series they just played.

Adding icing on the cake, deGrom’s primary pitch (outside of FF), his slider, has been a pitch the Giants struggle with, as only 3 of their 8 projected batters have a wOBA above 0.300 and an ISO over 0.160. You can’t go wrong with any of these aces, but I see deGrom as the best floor/ceiling combo on the slate.

Value Play: Tyler Beede | SFG | $6,900

If you really want to load up on the handful of phenomenal offenses tonight in GPPs, I think that Tyler Beede is the best bet to do that. While the win probability is a bit lower than we’d like with deGrom on the other side of the game, the upside for his price is insane.

He’s posted 40+ FDP in 3 of his last 5 outings and has held righties to a 0.323 wOBA and 0.121 ISO on the season with a 25.8% strikeout rate. His numbers against lefties are not nearly as serviceable (0.386 wOBA, 0.241 ISO, 15.7% strikeout rate), but that should be mitigated by the fact that the Mets will roll out 2-3 lefties at the most, one being the washed up Robinson Cano.

I don’t recommend going here in cash, but if you want to go all-in on the offenses in this article, Tyler Beede is your ticket to do just that.

Honorable Mention(s): (in order of my preference of the aces) Shane Bieber, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Justin Verlander, Patrick Corbin, J.A. Happ
