Ranking the 50 most visually-appealing college football uniforms

Though Boise State has less history, they do the orange and blue scheme just a little better than the Gators. Boise State has forced its way into the discussion of best uniforms in large part because of how prominent they have made those uniforms over more than a decade. Utilizing a color scheme reminiscent of the old uniforms of their NFL namesake in Denver, the Broncos have embraced a look that models after the iconic Smurf Turf at Albertsons Stadium.
The Broncos have pushed the envelope in various ways. Their all-blue look was banned by the Mountain West for conference home games due to the way it served as camouflage against their artificial turf. Boise State has embraced the monochromatic look, with not only that all-blue ensemble but also all-white and all-orange combinations.
Another positive change in recent years was the update of the helmet logo. While the previous version worked well enough and is memorable for its visibility in perhaps college football’s greatest upset of all time, the new version is far more striking. By eliminating the lettering, the horse is able to dominate the entire helmet.
All told, Boise State has been a great test case for Nike as they look to push the preeminent Buster of the BCS era and most historically notable Group of Five member to new sartorial heights.
