MLB DFS pitching gems July 30: Thor set to hammer the White Sox
MLB DFS Pitching Plays
David Price – Price is never a very sexy play, but he gets another rematch with Rays, and last time out he had eight strikeouts, giving up three runs scoring 37 FanDuel points. Tampa is far worse against LHP, hitting more GB, and striking out 22% of the time.
Price has been very solid at home as well, and overall in the four games against Tampa this year, he has not scored less than 37 points, and had a 55 point outing against them at home as well.
Pitch Mix – He will see more RHH in this spot, so we will focus on them. He is very diverse in his pitches, using the fastball, sinker, and change around 25% of the time, with a cutter 16%. The change has been getting real solid whiffs ranging between 30-45%, and the cutter had a nice boost in July up to 36% whiffs.
The fastball got 70% GB with the change getting 46%, and the cutter a season-low 33%. The ISO numbers were actually a little bit high this month compared to his season averages, but it didn’t result in many bad games except against Baltimore. His sinker gets a really solid 9.4 inches of horizontal movement, and six inches of vertical movement. They hit a good bit of GB to the sinker, so if he can manage this contact well, he should have a fifth good performance against the Rays.
