19. Kellen Mond, Texas A&M

As a freshman, Kellen Mond did not fully grasp the quarterback position at Texas A&M. He only threw two more touchdowns than interceptions and barely kept his completion percentage over 50. A change happened under new head coach Jimbo Fisher, however, and a breakout sophomore campaign happened.

In 13 games, Mond had over 3,100 yards passing and 24 touchdowns to nine interceptions, improving over his struggles the year before. He completed more passes on a higher number of attempts, as well, and led the way to a 9-4 record.

Along with 474 rushing yards, Mond proved he could handle both aspects of the Aggies offensive attack. Now, in 2019, he can move forward on a potential dark horse to claim trophy hardware at season’s end.

It will take statistical improvements and Texas A&M surging in the SEC, but Mond, if he puts it all together, can rise as a junior to at least the top 10 of college football quarterbacks. He is already one of the nation’s top two-way players at this position, so greater things may be ahead with another season of experience.

Mond’s potential is high, and he could become one of the conference’s top quarterbacks with another positive season in College Station.
