3. The Browns’ defense is scary

The saying goes that defense wins championships, and the Cleveland Browns have built themselves one hell of a defense. Whether you’re looking for pass rushers, sure tacklers, or the ability to cover receivers the Browns’ defense can do it all.

The Cleveland defense begins with a really strong front four, headlined by 2017’s top overall pick, Myles Garrett. Garrett has emerged as a pass rushing force, recording 13.5 sacks in 2018 and blowing up a ton of plays in the backfield.

The Browns made sure to help Garrett out by adding two impact players to the defense in the offseason. Olivier Vernon was brought in via trade to put a strong pass rusher opposite of Garrett while Sheldon Richardson was brought in to help push the pocket from the middle of the defensive line.

The linebacking corps is also a bit underrated for Cleveland, featuring steady players like Joe Schobert and Christian Kirksey. The defensive front will create space for the linebackers to make plays, securing tackles on runners since they won’t face as much heat from opposing linemen.

The Browns should also fare well in the secondary with Denzel Ward emerging as a star in his rookie year. A strong safety combination of Morgan Burnett and Damarious Randall should make life difficult for opposing passers, allowing the Browns to create a ton of turnovers and set things up nicely for their offense.
