Defensive End. 9. 812. Junior. Chase Young. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

The first defender to land on our list is Ohio State defensive end Chase Young. The junior recorded 9.5 sacks a season ago while rotating with two eventual NFL draft picks – Nick Bosa and Dre’Mont Jones. As a full-time starter in 2019, the 6-foot-5 Young could catapult the Buckeyes back into title contention.

A consensus five-star recruit out of Maryland’s Dematha High School, Young only contributed in a reserve capacity as a freshman. He added 18 tackles, five tackles-for-loss, and 2.5 sacks in nine games, but flashed his brilliant potential and earned a role for the 2018 season.

Bosa’s injury created a larger opportunity than initially expected, but Young would’ve seen snaps as a sophomore regardless. Imagine that tandem on the edge, though – Bosa and Young – with Jones on the interior. Not a single college offensive line could consistently block that bunch.

Slowing Young will be the main priority of every Buckeye opponent in 2019, however. He’ll demand double-teams and possibly chips from the tight end or running backs. But he’s expecting all of that. And many are projecting him to flourish anyways, so much that 2019 could be his final season at Ohio State. An impressive campaign at a highly visible program like The Ohio State University will thrust Young right into the NFL Draft hype machine.
