Fantasy Football Mock Draft Pick 2: Rounds 1-3

Saquon Barkley

Going into this draft I knew I had the first overall pick, and lets be honest here, Saquon is the only real option at the first overall pick. With OBJ shipped off the Cleveland, Saquon will be the last man standing in NY. He was a scoring machine last year, and keep in mind that he is a duel threat running back, and he plays with Eli Manning who can’t throw the ball further than ten yards.

In PPR leagues, if you get the first overall pick, and you do not take Barkley, fully expect to lose that league. I have read some reports saying the with OBJ gone, more eyes will be on Saquon, but that doesn’t make much sense to me since he put up very similar production when OBJ sat last season.

Patrick Mahomes

Picking last in the second round can tend to be a very annoying thing, but I was able to draft the best quarterback in the draft with my second round pick. I actually wanted to grab a receiver with the second round pick, but seven of them went in the second round, including the tight end I wanted in Travis Kelce.

With Mahomes just sitting there, I knew loading up with Pat, and Saquon together would give me the best quarterback, running back combo in our league.

Zach Ertz

Looking back at this pick, it might be the only one I actually regret. Grabbing a good tight end early on is a goal of mine going into every single draft. The position is very limited, and you do not want to be the guy who ends up drafting a very bad tight end late as your starter.

Todd Gurley, and Keenan Allen, both went right afterwards, and I really liked both of those plays. This is why I regret Ertz, especially since I didn’t grab my first wide receiver until the fourth round.
