EPL DFS: Top-Tier Forwards/Midfielders

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal @ Newcastle, $22) – This one doesn’t require much thought.  Aubameyang thrived in his first full EPL season last year, scoring 22 goals which was good enough to tie Mane and Salah for most in the league.  He’s the top scorer on the largest favorite on the slate, so naturally he’s in consideration.

However, he’s a guy who needs goals to hit value, so his floor isn’t great.  Newcastle was tight defensively, especially at home, last season so they could limit Aubameyang’s chances.

This makes me want to play him more in GPP contests than in cash games.  At this point, it’s unknown whether or not Alexandre Lacazette ($18) will be healthy for this game, but he’s also worth a GPP look if he can play.

Jamie Vardy (Wolverhampton @ Leicester, $20) – I’m telling you right off the bat that I do not like this price for Vardy, but I wanted to throw out another high-priced option.

Vardy is super goal-dependent, and his opponent doesn’t give up that many goals.  I gave the edge to Vardy over Raul Jimenez ($18) because of matchup.

Vardy playing at home is more favorable than Jimenez in a tough away matchup against a Leicester team that gave up only 1.05 goals per game at home.  Vardy is GPP-only if you want, especially when you can get Ayoze Perez ($14) for a whole $6 less.
