MLB DFS Pitching Plays

Luis Castillo  – Anytime I can get Luis at home, I will have some interest. It just so happens that he will draw a match-up with the Cubs, a team that I do not normally target. Castillo has a 3.52 xFIP, 29% K rate, 57% GB rate, and 35% HC.

Luis is a guy that not only has great strikeout upside, but does an amazing job at limiting home runs, and managing contact. The Cubs have around a 21% K rate, 45% GB rate, and 36% HC. All very average numbers, especially considering the talent that this team has. Castillo will see more RHH, where the K rate is slightly lower, at 27%, but he has an unreal 63% GB rate, and only 30% HC, with a .085 ISO.

Pitch Mix  – Against RHH, he has a very good mix of pitches, using each of his four 25% of the time, between the fastball, sinker, slider, and change. I absolutely love his Slider, it is downright nasty, getting over 55% whiffs, 50% GB, and virtually no ISO against it. With solid velocity and movement on his pitches, I really think this is an elite GPP pivot off of the very popular JV.
