Offensive Coordinator Breakdown – Cincinnati Bengals
Fantasy Football Winners:
The red riffle looks to get back on track after missing five games last season. Dalton should see plenty of volume in Zac Taylor’s scheme, which is the most important thing when looking at how a player will do in fantasy football.
If Tyler Eifert can get healthy after a gruesome injury last season, this offense might be one that surprises some this Fall. The receiving options are elite when healthy as, A.J. Green, Tyler Boyd and Tyler Eifert all have Pro-Bowl ability. You then add one of the better all-purpose backs in Joe Mixon this offense has a chance at being one of the better units in the league.
This team will go as far as Andy Dalton allows them to, he must step up being the veteran that he is and the weapons that he has at his disposal. If he can make good decisions and distribute the ball to his playmakers, the Bengals will be in the playoff mix and Dalton will be in line for a very good fantasy football season.
During Taylor’s long season as the play caller for the Dolphins one thing really stood out to me. Jarvis Landry was targeted 165 times! That is the type of volume that AJ Green was seeing early in his career when he was one of the top-5 receivers in the game.
Unfortunately Green has not been able to stay healthy of late and he is on the wrong side of 30. If Green can get this ankle injury behind him and stay healthy for the remainder of the season, he will smash his current ADP #48 as he has top-10 upside.
Fantasy Football Losers:
Hopefully Taylor’s lack of interest in the running game doesn’t limit Joe Mixon too much. Mixon will have more to overcome than his coordinator though as the offensive line has already been decimated by injury and retirement this off-season.
On the bright side Lamar Miller did have his most rushing touchdowns under Taylor in one season (8). I think Mixon will be a top running back this season, however his current ADP at Fantasy Pros is 14, which is too high.
It will be hard to payoff that ADP unless Taylor gives him more than 285 touches this season, something that I am not sure Taylor can commit too.
