4. Philadelphia Eagles

Even after they traded away Michael Bennett this offseason, the Eagles are still pretty loaded up front (Fletcher Cox, Derek Barnett, Brandon Graham, Vinny Curry). That said, as they continually deploy a deep set of pass rushers to come at opponents in waves, Clowney would fit in nicely as a versatile piece.

The long-term investment they recently made in Carson Wentz may push Philadelphia away from making a long-term commitment to Clowney. Looking ahead to 2020 they have to make some cuts to get within the salary cap, but for this year while Wentz is still on his rookie deal they currently have over $24 million in cap space.

Clowney could easily use his leverage and balk at going to Philadelphia, knowing a long-term deal there is not happening in much the same way it’s not on the table in Houston right now. But on the other hand, the Eagles can sell him on being able to stay fresher as part of a deep front-seven coupled with the idea he can produce a big season as he gets set to hit the open market next March.
