Fantasy Football: Bold Predictions and Hot Takes

Ah yes…we finally arrive at our idiot cover boy. Antonio Brown. Mr. Big Chest (or is it Mr. Big Checks? I honestly don’t know). I’m sure you’ve all heard the jokes by now regarding Antonio Brown getting “cold feet” about playing for the Raiders after messing them up in a cryo chamber and getting frostbite.

He also is refusing to play right now because his helmet for the past 10 years is no longer compliant and he doesn’t want to play with the newly required helmets. I’ll tell you…as a Steelers fan I could not be happier to be rid of this guy despite being the best in the business.

He had an excellent year last year, particularly in the end zone and he will be regressing HARD this year. Everyone knows Derek Carr is worse than Big Ben (by a lot) and that goes for every category, particularly the deep ball.

As of now, AB is still being taken as a top 10 wide receiver (the 9th receiver off the board to be exact). My bold prediction is he finishes the year as the 20th wide receiver…or worse. I really don’t think it’s a very bold take considering we don’t know if he’ll even be playing this year.

This probably isn’t much of a bold prediction, or at least shouldn’t be, but it is in regards to my man Duke Johnson. I love this guy because he was a super late draft pick for me in two different big money FFPC leagues and was a huge reason why I was able to win both.

He was recently traded to the Texans which obviously has some big implications and repercussions with Chubb, Baker, Watson, and Keke Coutee . But we’re here to focus on Duke. In 2017 as primarily a 3rd down back, he was able to get over 1000 yards total (receiving and rushing) and 7 touchdowns.

Now he’s with the Texans and honestly Lamar Miller does not scare me. Also, with Keke Coutee looking at least a bit hobbled, Duke is going to potentially get some slot work and certainly will catch the ball out of the backfield.

When you have Will Fuller and DeAndre Hopkins taking the top off the defense, the opponent will not be able to sit on routes in the flat. Watson hasn’t really been known to throw the ball to his running backs but guess who else didn’t have a history of doing that?

Cam Newton who now has the most targeted running back in the league. I think now that Watson actually has a good pass catching back, he’s going to use him a lot. My bold prediction for Duke Johnson is that he gets over 1100 all purpose yards and 80+ receptions which would be incredible value with his ADP being in the 11th round right now.
