2. Andrew Luck won’t finish as a top-10 quarterback.

How this is bold:

Per Fantasy Football Calculator, Luck is currently ranked as the QB5, going in drafts around the same time as guys like Baker Mayfield and Matt Ryan. Since entering the league in 2012, Luck has finished as a top-5 QB in 5 of 6 seasons where he’s played at least 15 games.

Why this will come true:

Colts’ QB Andrew Luck‘s situation keeps getting murkier and murkier with each day that passes this offseason. An injury that was reported as simply a “calf strain” suffered back in May, this is an issue that has followed Luck all throughout training camp and the early preseason. So what exactly is it that’s bothering the four-time Pro Bowler?

Now, Luck’s injury is being reported as a high-ankle issue to pair with his calf ailment. Last week, Colts owner Jim Irsay told Kevin Bowen of 1070 The Fan Indianapolis that his star QB has a “small little bone” issue (whatever that means). The case and point here is that nobody really knows for sure what’s going on with Luck or how long he will be out of action, especially after general manager Chris Ballard pointed out  that he doesn’t expect Luck to make a preseason appearance.

Injury rehab will be the main focus for Luck throughout the preseason per last Tuesday’s report, which isn’t exactly encouraging news for his 2019 outlook (especially since HC Frank Reich hopes to name their starting QB for the season-opener by Week 3 of the preseason). After Luck’s shoulder injury saga from 2017, we know that the Colts front office hasn’t always been entirely truthful when it comes to their star QB’s injury status. it would be wise to steer clear of him in drafts until we’ve got further clarification on his regular-season status.

It’s tough to bet against a guy who’s been an elite fantasy asset when healthy, but that just doesn’t appear to be the case for the time being. Whether he’s rushed back from injury or misses time in 2019, there’s a real possibility we could see him fall outside the top-10 at his position.
