WWE NXT: The 5 count for August 21, 2019
By Matt Black
2. Damian Priest continues his winning ways
The first match of the night saw Damian Priest taking on Mansoor. It was for the most part of a showcase for Priest and really made him look like an unstoppable force for a majority of the matchup.
We still can’t help but be surprised however that little was done to capitalize on Mansoor’s big 50-man battle royal win earlier on this year at Super Showdown. It truly feels like a missed opportunity not to do anything with it but here we are.
The end of the match saw Priest hit the Reckoning to pick up the three count and the victory. While Mansoor had a couple of hope spots in the match this was all about establishing Priest as a force to be reckoned with on the black and gold brand.
With NXT on the USA Network quickly approaching, one would have to believe that Triple H has big plans for Priest once the brand makes its move in a few weeks’ time on their live weekly two-hour show. But only time will tell.
