Fantasy Football: High Stakes FFPC Draft Pick 7

For reference, here is the DRAFT BOARD

Round 5 was where things really started to get interesting for us. I loved our first 4 picks but I could see us going in multiple directions basically from here on our. We didn’t think it necessary nor did we really want another running back. I wasn’t a fan of the running backs that were left anyway. We went into the draft knowing we wanted a piece of the Rams offense and ideally a piece of the Chiefs offense as well. This was where we made our stand and took Cooper Kupp. Reports are that his agility and speed are even better prior to his injury so we’re hoping he can be a PPR monster for us. The debate here was whether we should take Hunter Henry or not. I can certainly see arguments that we probably should have with them not having Gordon.

Given that Hunter Henry went right after us in the 5th and we still didn’t like the running backs coming back, there were some decisions to be made. None of us like taking a quarterback particularly early so we wanted to build out our team a bit and make it balanced. We decided to take Alshon Jeffrey but it was probably the pick our team was most torn on. That Philly offense is just so solid if Wentz can stay healthy for once and despite them having a multitude of red-zone targets, I think Jeffrey is in line for a good year. Certainly good enough for a 6th round pick here.

Coming back we were really sweating someone taking Vance McDonald. Some teams still needed tight ends not to mention people are apt to take at least 3 if not more in a draft like this and are forced to reach a bit due to the bonus in PPR for these guys. Luckily for us, Njoku and Ebron went before us leaving us with our boy Vance who we rank quite a bit higher than those two. I mentioned earlier that myself and one of the co-owners of these teams are big Steelers fans so we were thrilled. We have Vance rated just below the Engram/Howard/Henry tier. Getting him in the 7th in this format is great for us as he’s been going in the 6th.

There are still plenty of good wide receivers available on the way back and frankly, it was a very tough decision for us. One of our co-owners was adamant he would not have the lizard king Sammy Watkins on the team. He was pushing hard for Larry Fitzgerald which is certainly understandable in this spot. However, I steered us towards Will Fuller who has a massive ceiling. My thought was we had stable floors at receiver already with Kupp and Adams so why not go a bit more boom?
