Here’s the recap of all the high-flying action you may have missed from this week’s episode of 205 Live. Watch the Cruiserweights every Tuesday night at 8 PM ET on the WWE Network.

On last week’s show, Team Lorcan defeated Team Gulak in a Captain’s Challenge match. This week’s episode of 205 Live opens with highlights from the 45-minute match. General manager Drake Maverick congratulates Oney Lorcan and Humberto Carrillo on winning. Lorcan wants to face Gulak again. Even though Team Lorcan got the win, it was Carrillo who pinned Angel Garza. Maverick makes a match between Carrillo and Lorcan tonight. The winner gets a title shot at Gulak next month at Clash of Champions.

Kalisto vs. Ariya Daivari

Two weeks ago, Gran Metalik was attacked backstage. Kalisto told his partners that he heard it was Ariya Daivari and would beat a confession out of him. Lince Dorado and Metalik stay in the back to let Kalisto face Daivari on his own. Daivari doesn’t seem to take the match seriously as he lays across the turnbuckle after planting his opponent. Kalisto tries to speed the match up and hits a flying head butt. Kalisto lays across the turn buckle with a little pizazz.

Nigel McGuinness asks why Daivari would go after Lucha House Party. Aiden English thinks it’s because Daivari can’t find allies on his own. Vic Joseph thinks that he’s only out from himself; English responds that Daivari is more calculated than they give him credit for.

Though there were a few high spots, Daivari keeps Kalisto grounded most of the match. Kalisto hits a hurricanrana on the apron. Kalisto nearly pinned Daivari with a 450 Splash, but didn’t realize his opponent had both feet on the ropes. Daivari goes for Kalisto’s mask before hitting a hammerlock. Daivari is victorious. After the match is over, Daivari beats Kalisto until Dorado and Metalik come to their friend’s rescue. Dorado stares down Daivari in the ring.

Backstage Business

Tony Nese is interviewed by Sarah. He stands by his statement that he will do any and everything to win back the Cruiserweight Championship. What he’s been doing isn’t working, so he might go about things differently.

The Singh Brothers are backstage. They have been lackluster in their return, so they will go back and review all their matches until they are prepared to come back better than before.

Lorcan vs. Carrillo

Humberto Carrillo hasn’t had a pinfall loss in five months. *Drinking game alert*: the match has barely started and it’s already been mentioned that Carrillo and Garza are cousins. *Oney Lorcan gear watch*: black trunks with purple boots.

Lorcan is aggressive early on, throwing Carrillo face-first into the top turnbuckle. He then drives his face into the mat. Lorcan keeps Carrillo grounded as much as possible. He puts his opponent in a sleeper hold, but Carrillo breaks it and frees himself.

Carrillo finally gets some offense and picks up the pace of the match. He does a handspring into a Japanese arm drag. Carrillo drags Lorcan to the corner, but Lorcan blocks the moonsault. The two trade offense, featuring a lot of uppercuts from Lorcan. Carrillo regains the offensive battle with missile drop kick off the apron. He also does a double stomp through the second rope. It looks like Carrillo is going to best his opponent when he powerbombs Lorcan, but Lorcan kicks out.

Carrillo does a running dropkick. Lorcan hits the half-and-half on the outside. Lorcan gets back in the ring to restart the count. He jumps off the top turnbuckle onto Carrillo, who is still on the outside. He gets Carrillo back into the ring and nearly pins him. Lorcan puts Carrillo on the turnbuckle, but Carrillo elbows him so he falls down.

Both are on the top turnbuckle again and Carrillo throws him face first onto the canvas. Carrillo wins and will go on to face Drew Gulak at Clash of Champions on September 15.

Gulak appears on video with a message for his next opponent. He calls Carrillo “my star pupil.” Gulak points out the momentum that Carrillo has by winning the Captain’s Challenge and besting his cousin. “Change is the rule. I’m not the same teacher you remember.” He will bring pain and punishment. He is the law.
