Fantasy Football Passing Game Impact:

The Jaguars completely revamped its offense starting with the signing of quarterback Nick Foles. The Super Bowl MVP is coming off of two seasons in which he took over for Carson Wentz after he tore his ACL at the Rams.

The Jaguars re-signed AJ Cann, while adding tackle Cedric Ogbuehi and 2nd round pick tackle Jawaan Taylor. With the Jaguars returning four of their five offensive linemen in addition to Ogbuehi and Taylor, the line should be one of the strengths of this offense.

The Jaguars skill position players are headlined by Dede Westbrook and Marqise Lee at wide receiver. One note this fall camp has been how much more they want Fournette involved in the passing game.

In the five game stretch in which Foles started under DeFilippo he completed 120 of 182 passes (65.9%) for 1,372 yards and 11 touchdowns to only two interceptions. The main thing to remember here is that DeFilippo was not calling plays as head coach Doug Pederson was, but Foles has stated on multiple occasions how important DeFilippo was in his development that season.

The passing game has been a strength under DeFilippo as his teams have averaged 4,577 yards while completing 68% of passes and 30 touchdowns.

I simply do not see this as a high volume passing attack even with his history as a play caller. I believe this team leans heavily on Leonard Fournette and its defense like it did two seasons ago when it should have played for the Super Bowl.

Fantasy Football Running Game Impact:

I am hoping that this offense has more production than the previous two that John has run. The Vikings ran for 1,493 yards with 383 of those yards coming in the final three games after DeFilippo was fired. The running game in Cleveland was dreadful rushing for 1,358 yards on 393 carries and an abysmal 3.5 yards per carry.

Not the best news when you have a bruising running back that averages only 3.7 yards per carry in his career and can’t stay healthy.

The good news for Fournette is that he is the only option and will receive the bulk of the work in the run game as Alfred Blue and rookie Ryquell Armstead back him up. It is clear that both Doug Marrone and Tom Coughlin expect this to be a run first team which increases Leonard Fournette’s value as he should get well over 300 touches this season.
