Draftkings NFL GPP pivots: Quarterback

Chalk: Kyler Murray, Patrick Mahomes, Jameis Winston, Jacoby Brissett

Pivots: Matthew Stafford, Josh Allen, Nick Foles

Quarterback is one of my favorite positions this week to get different. The scoring distribution at this position each week is relatively flat, so the rule of thumb is usually to pay down in cash games and that strategy usually bleeds over into GPP roster construction, too. There are a lot of good quarterbacks in play this week, but I have three guys that I am going to be well over the field on in my GPP lineups.

Mahomes is the lone exception here as he is the one higher-priced guy here who looks to be kind of chalky. People love to play this dude and we saw him go crazy high in season-long drafts this summer, too. He is a stud but has a tough matchup against the Jags secondary. Meanwhile, I am not sold on Kyler Murray at all and I’m even fading that dude in cash games. Winston and Brissett are solid options, with Jameis being my favorite popular play.

Stafford is my top pivot here and is looking extremely low-owned. This Arizona defense finished in the bottom half of the league overall and while they were worse against the run, they should also be vulnerable in the secondary without Patrick Patterson out there. Rostering Stafford, an always underrated passer, is not only a pivot off Murray on the other side of the ball but also a pivot off the Detroit running game and a slightly chalkier Kerryon Johnson. I like pairing Stafford with one of his top two receivers and I think you can even entertain a three man stack with Johnson in there, too.
